BIM quantity takeoff

Turn model elements into quantities and schedules for estimating and tendering.

The problem

Manual takeoff is slow and easy to get wrong. A model can produce quantities quickly, but only if it is clear whether each quantity was read from the model or computed from geometry.

What we need (input)

  • Model elements with quantities or measurable geometry

What we produce (output)

  • Quantity schedules by element and storey
  • A basis for cost and carbon calculation

How the analysis works

  • Read quantities from IFC where present, or derive them from geometry.
  • Group quantities by element, storey and space.
  • State the source of each quantity so it can be checked.

Limitations and honesty

Demonstration data
  • Whether quantities are read, computed or both is confirmed per model.
  • Demonstration quantities on this site are examples only.
